Connemara Writer's Pilgrimage - Literary Ireland West - Letterfrack, Co. Galway

Connemara is well-known for its landscape and scenery and many will be familiar with visual artists who have been attracted to the region, most notably Paul Henry, Jack B. Yeats, Harry Kernoff, Harry Clarke, Dorothy Cross and John Behan. Unsurprisingly, it also boasts links with very significant literary figures: Oliver St John Gogarty, Louis MacNiece, Oscar Wilde, Kate O’Brien, W.B. Yeats, Richard Murphy, Ludwig Wittgenstein, and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, Theodore Roethke.

Connemara Literary Pilgrimages aims to develop awareness and enjoyment of this literary heritage by conducting research, providing material, written, aural, and visual, and by holiding various events in Artisan House / Books at One and in venues in the locality.
