- [Letterfrack Poetry Trail](https://artisanhouse.ie/product/letterfrack-poetry-trail/) - 2nd edition A book to prompt a stroll or a keepsake from the Letterfrack Poetry Trail. The Letterfrack Poetry Trail was conceived as a fitting celebration to mark the thirtieth anniversary of Conamara Environmental, Educational & Cultural Centre (CEECC). It was launched by President Michael D. Higgins on 17th October 2014. The Poetry Trail consists of nine specially-commissioned poems from leading poets in Ireland. In the following year, 2015, President Higgins gifted one of his poems for inclusion on the Poetry Trail. The poems explore the theme of place. They are located on plaques in the Connemara National Park, the Connemara West Centre and the village of Letterfrack thus linking the three sites and creating the opportunity for a meditative walk. This book contains all ten poems with additional information on the poets and on the poems. Since its launch, The Letterfrack Poetry Trail has seen thousands of visitors descend on the trail that includes poems by President Michael D. Higgins, Paula Meehan, Louis de Paor, Mary O’Malley, Joan McBreen, Eva Bourke, Theo Dorgan, Rita Ann Higgins, Moya Cannon and Michael Gorman. With support from Pobal, Artisan House and Joan McBreen, Letterfrack Poetry Trail was relaunched in 2025. All poetry plaques were redesigned to include links to audio readings of each poem by the poets and a second edition of the book was published. A portion from the sales price of this book goes towards the running of Conamara Sea Week Festival. RRP: €15
- [Mountain Ash broadside](https://artisanhouse.ie/product/the-mountain-ash-broadside/) - The broadside is available framed or in a hand-made linen bound print folder. It is framed to conservation standard and mounted on an off white mountboard using archival tape. The ash frame is a very pale brown with a darker brown grain. It is finished with a clear wax to show of the distinctive grain. The print folder is bound in linen and lined in acid-free paper. This is our recommended option for purchasers who require postage of the broadside. Please note the Framed option is available for pick-up only.

Fifty years ago, in 1974, the Christian Brothers departed Letterfrack where they had operated St Joseph’s Industrial School since1888. A local group of community activists made a decision to purchase the former Industrial School buildings and encouraged the State to take on the farm and Diamond mountain lands for a national park. This visionary group had formed a local development company known as Connemara West plc and with widespread community support set about transforming the former school and undertaking numerous other projects throughout the parish of Ballinakill. Providing leadership with others during all this period was Michael O’Neill. In that same year, the Renvyle branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, was formed by Michael and it remains active. The development of the Teach Ceoil was an early achievement of Connemara West and the Renvyle Comhaltas branch. Michael’s involvement with Connemara West and many other organisations in the region and nationally is documented in Community: A time, place, and people. It is a social history of a disadvantaged rural region as told through the experience of a national school teacher, a parent, an activist who reflects deeply on the experiences of that period.
